Anaemia
Anaemia is caused by a reduction in the number of red blood cells or haemoglobin in the body. This reduction causes a decrease in the amount of oxygen which is carried by the blood to the cells of the body, causing symptoms such as fatigue and difficulty concentrating, loss of appetite, and constipation.
Iron deficiency is a common cause of anaemia. Iron is required to make haemoglobin, the part of the red blood cell which transports oxygen around the body.
Iron deficiency anaemia can be caused by a lack of iron intake, insufficient absorption, or blood loss.
If you suspect anaemia, please have your iron levels checked by your doctor, and supplement accordingly.
• For Iron supplementation, we recommend Terra Nova Easy Iron Complex, Viridian Balanced Iron Complex, or Solgar Gentle Iron for easily absorbable forms of iron which have no side effects such as constipation.
• For those who prefer liquid supplementation we have the Floradix liquid iron formula.
