Vitamin B9 (Folic acid, Folacin, Folate)
Folic acid is needed for red blood cell formation. It is also involved in the synthesis of DNA and RNA and so promotes healthy cell division and replication.
Its intake is particularly important during pregnancy, for the prevention of neural tube defects in babies such as spina bifida.
