Laxatives
Laxatives are designed for the relief of constipation, the definition of which is bowel motions which are dry, difficult to pass, and infrequent. Laxatives should always be used with caution, and are not intended to be used on an ongoing basis. They should be used on a temporary basis only. If diarrhoea results, stop the use of laxatives as it can result in dehydration and loss of electrolytes. Laxatives should work to soften the stool, making it easy to pass, and induce more frequent bowel movements.
