Detoxification of the Kidneys
The kidneys are an important organ of elimination. They work to filter the blood, removing waste products so that they can be excreted through the urine.
Nutritional recommendations:
Dandelion leaf and Nettle leaf are both gentle diuretics which cleanse and encourage the elimination of wastes by the kidneys, while providing nutrients to strengthen and nourish the body.
Other tips and hints:
Drink 1.5 – 2 litres of water per day. This helps to flush the kidneys and prevent the build up of minerals which can cause kidney stones. If your urine is yellow, your kidneys need more water. Your urine should be clear and odourless.
Do not consume large amounts of protein as this can put a strain on the kidneys.
Limit sodium intake, as excess sodium from salt causes the body to hang onto water, therefore inhibiting excretion of wastes from the body through the kidneys.
Include parsley in your diet, as it has a cleansing effect on the kidneys.
