Ayurvedic Health
Ayurveda means “the science of life” and is an ancient Indian form of healing which is based on the doshas. Doshas are known as vital energies, and are composed of ether, air, fire, water and earth.
There are three doshas within Ayurvedic medicine: Vata, which represents the elements of air and ether, Pitta which represents the elements of fire and water, and Kapha which represents the elements of earth and water. Everybody’s constitution is unique, and consists of a combination of the doshas, though usually one dosha will predominate, and that predominant dosha determines a person’s individual constitution. Ayurvedic medicine aims to bring the doshas and therefore the body and mind into balance through diet, lifestyle, herbal medicine, yoga and massage.
